Diabetes Mellitus is a heterogeneous metabolic disorder which is characterized by hyperglycemia and that occurs due to defect on insulin production, secretion and its actions.
Major types of Diabetes Mellitus are
1. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (insulin dependent diabetes mellitus): occurs due to beta cell destruction ( insulin deficiency)
2. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Non Insulin dependent diabetes Mellitus) occurs due to defect in insulin secretion and insulin resistance.
